Inertia

I’m having a problem with the conservation of momentum. I have been completely slacking off in the training department over the last couple of weeks. A lot of it I think has to do with Jim’s bike ride being over so we aren’t constantly focusing on fitness here at the House of Cranky Toddler. I was at least managing to get to the pool two days a week but last week I only made it one time and this week I already missed one of the two days.

I haven’t been taking Zane in the BOB any mornings of late because it’s frigid cold that early in the day (even though it is still getting hot in the afternoon). You people in the north laugh at my liberal use of “frigid cold”, but we did actually have a frost the other day. Brrr. It’s not just the cold either. Jim is home in the mornings now and we spend good family time together doing fun things like making bets on whether Zane will poop right after his diaper is changed and watching Zane try to walk in his footie pajamas that are too long. Good times.

I keep bringing my gym bag to school with me and promising that I’ll either run or swim when I need a break during the day but so far it has been a false promise each day. Today I actually did finally get a nice long run in but it was only because I had an awkward hour between the end of my class and when I had to be home to let the babysitter go and I didn’t think it was worth it to start anything with that little time. So instead of working I drove home, changed in the van (because if I’d gone inside and Zane had seen me it would have all been over right then and there!), and went for a 40 minute run. It felt great once I managed to start.

It’s a good thing I made it out for a run today, too, because my brother came over for dinner and he and Jim made a Cold Stone run for dessert. A half pint of Peanut Butter Cup Perfection later and even with the run I’m feeling pretty guilty.

Let’s hope I’ve changed my inertia from an object not in motion to an object in motion.
