Sidelined by some Bad Mexican Food

Sunday night we went to a Mexican restaurant (which will remane unnamed) for dinner. Monday, the puking commenced around 5:30am. By noon, after spending the majority of the morning in bed or on the bathroom floor resting between bouts, I finally was able to keep down a cracker and some water, but not able to stand up. Thanks to the doctor recommended regimen of BRAT - Bananas, plain Rice, Applesauce, and dry Toast (of which I just ate bananas and dry toast because we happened to have bananas in the house and making toast was possible for me in my weakened state whereas cooking rice could have resulted in my burning down the house), as well as some diluted Gatorade, I managed to recuperate and progress to eating normal food yesterday.

Today I am hoping to start training again, but on Monday I couldn’t even contemplate a walk to the car to pick up Zane from day care! So, having missed 2 days of training I am not sure what to do today. Plus, having missed a whole day of working I am playing catch up on that front, too.

Zane, by the grace of God, was incredibly cooperative Monday despite his parents’ inability to function. He has slept through the night both of the last two nights (ahhhhhh, beautiful sleep), he has played independently with his toys (okay, so maybe it was more fun because we really couldn’t have cared less if the toys included sharp objects and fire hazards and the play involved climbing on tables, drawing on walls, and dumping bowls of cereal on the floor and walking through it), and he was fine with eating Cheerios and toast for dinner in the family room while we were both lying helplessly on the couch.

The nausea and vomiting were also accompanied by severe caffeine withdrawal. Holy headache!! My body really could have used some caffeinated intravenous fluids. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to eat chile relleno again.
